Decision No (28) (2008) with Regard to Refund of Work Visa Fees, Reduction of Change of Profession Fees, and Penalty for Foreign workers overdue Monthly fees

The Prime Minister,
After Perusal of Act No (19) (2006) with Regard to Labour Market Regulation, and in particular Article (42),
And Upon the Proposal of Labour Market Regulatory Authority,
And Upon Presentation of the Minister of Labour, the Chairman of Labour Market Regulatory Authority,
And after Obtaining the Consent of the Council of Minister,

Decided as follows:

Article (1)

Work visa fees shall be wholly refunded if labour Market Regulatory Authority decided to cancel the work visa before the arrival of the foreign worker to the Kingdom. In case of mobility of the foreign worker to another employer, the fees for the remaining months of work visa validity shall be equally refunded.

Article (2)

Change of profession fees shall be reduced to the amount of BD10 (ten).

Article (3)

BD 2(two) shall be imposed every month upon foreign workers overdue monthly fees with a maximum limit of BD 6(six) for each work visa.

Article (4)

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority shall collect the change of profession fees and overdue fees referred to in this decision.

Article (5)

Any other provision contrary to this decision is hereby repealed.

Article (6)

The Minister of Labour, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Labour Market Regulatory Authority shall implement this decision which shall be published on the Gazette and come into force as from first of July 2008.
