Avoiding Duplicate CPRs

  1. No one is permitted to have more than one CPR Number.
  2. If the expat has been previously issued with a CPR number or card (even years ago) , it is his responsibility to inform his employer / prospect employer before applying.
  3. For those who were born in Bahrain the CPR number is on their birth certificate and that is the one to be used for them.
  4. It is the employer’s responsibility to enter the correct CPR number , when applying for the work permit (or dependent’s permit) and upload a copy of that old CPR card (if available) , employers must ensure that they know the status of every expat they are applying for , and check whether he/she has a CPR number or not.

Otherwise the following complications will arise:

  • Any expat who already has a CPR Number who attempts to enter the Kingdom with a new CPR Number will be detected at Immigration, refused entry and deported.
  • The employer will be liable for all expenses incurred for deportation.
  • The employer’s CR will be placed under administrative offence

If the expat is in Bahrain, he will encounter enormous complications with matters such as bank accounts, driving licenses etc…. if he holds more than one CPR number.
If in doubt before applying, Check the e-services section on our website by entering the employee’s Nationality and passport number (also try his old passport number if you have it)
through Express Web Services you can also inquire by submitting an e-support ticket through eSupport .
